About ICMM

The Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) recognised the increasing need for education, training, and scientific research activities relevant to the Indian Subcontinent. To pursue these activities, a college under the guidance of IAMM is essential. 

Considering the present need Indian College of Medical Microbiology (ICMM) is nitiated under the aegis of IAMM, effective w.e.f. January 2026. 

  • The name of the college shall be the Indian College of Medical Microbiology. 
  • The headquarters of the college shall be the headquarters of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists of India in New Delhi.

VISION

To promote excellence in medical microbiology through education, research, and professional development for the advancement of public health in India.

MISSION

To foster a community of skilled, ethical, and forward-thinking medical microbiologists committed to improving healthcare outcomes.

AIM

To advance the science and practice of medical microbiology in India by fostering excellence in education, research, and professional standards, thereby contributing to improved healthcare and public health outcomes.

OBJECTIVES

  1. To organise Continuing Medical Education Programmes and scientific meetings across the country. 
  2. To run certificate courses/diplomas/fellowships to train candidates in various disciplines of clinical Microbiology. 
  3. To promote and conduct Scientific and Educational Research. 
  4. To bring out monographs, practice guidelines, technical series reports, and other learning resource materials in various disciplines of Clinical Microbiology. 
  5. To confer Fellowships of the College on the medical microbiologists attaining eminence. 
  6. To seek affiliation and coordination on a reciprocal basis with national and international colleges/academies, associations or similar bodies working with similar objectives.
  7. To collaborate with regulatory and scientific bodies for the upliftment of medical microbiology and provide expert guidance and evidence-based policy support to healthcare systems and public health authorities in medical microbiology.
